Views of and Direct Access to Lake Rescue. 3 BR + Loft with 2.5 Baths. 4 min to Okemo. Newly renovated home great for up to 8 people. Three bedrooms plus a loft that sleeps 4 and is perfect for the kids. We have 2 and a half baths, living room, family room, dining room, mudroom, and a nicely appointed kitchen. Located just 4 miles from the Jackson Gore Okemo entrance and 5 miles from the Main Entrance at Okemo Mountain. Our home is directly across from Lake Rescue with a deeded right of way down to the lake. We have beautiful views of the lake from the house and yard. The wraparound deck offers views of the lake as well as a dining table with chairs for 8 and a lighted umbrella. A gas grill is available excluding the winter months. We also have a small covered patio accessible via French doors from the lower level so you can relax and enjoy looking at the lake during inclement weather. Our home has many nice features including radiant heat on the main floor and lower level. If you aren’t familiar with radiant heat, it is a network of pipes running through the floors which use hot water to heat the floor. No cold feet on our stone, tile or hardwood floors. We also have a pellet stove to jump start the heat when you arrive, and it provides a nice natural flame with very little work and no firewood to deal with. The family room in the lower level includes an air hockey table and dartboard for entertainment. Smart TVs in the Living Room, Family Room, and loft all have basic cable along with apps like Netflix, Amazon, etc. For outdoor fun you will find 5 kayaks, a firepit, and horseshoe pits. A short float or a walk will bring you to Red Bridge Falls or what has affectionately been called “The Redneck Riviera.” This dam is a great place to relax and play in the water. Okemo mountain and Lake Rescue aside, there are tons of other local attractions and activities to enjoy in the area. While we absolutely cherish our time at our VT home, we know it isn’t perfect and feel you should know a few things before you book. Our property backs up to Rt. 100. It is not a superhighway but it is busy enough and close enough that you should be aware in advance. The upper floor of our house is known as hobbit land. No there aren’t any furry creatures, but the ceilings are VERY low. This floor contains a bedroom, half bath, and the loft. Still great for the kids but taller adults beware! No central air. Apparently they don’t build many houses with AC up there and this one is no exception. We do have a window unit in the 3rd floor loft which cools that floor pretty well. Luxury Home on Lake Rescue Our luxury 3,500 SF timberframe home is located directly on Lake Rescue and close to Okemo and Killington ski areas. The views of the lake and mountains are spectacular and the location is wonderful all year round. Our Bensonwood designed timeberfame house (also known as a post and beam house) is characterized by beautiful Douglas Fir beams, towering cathedral ceilings, and a wide open main floor. The home has 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths. Three bedrooms have queen beds, and one large bedroom has built-in twin beds. The house can comfortably sleep 8 depending upon sleeping arrangements. We do limit occupancy to keep the house in excellent condition for future guests. The house has three levels; main, upper and lower. Main Level The main level has a “Great Room” with cathedral ceiling, exposed beams, a fireplace, and large windows overlooking the lake. The kitchen has cherry cabinets, a large granite counter, stainless appliances, and an island which seats five. The dining room has a large cherry table. A half bath is on the main level. The kitchen and Great Room open to a deck with an outdoor grill, picnic table and lovely views of the lake. Upper Level The upper level contains the master bedroom (with master bath), a loft, and a large bedroom with built-in beds, private bathroom and a TV. Children usually love the large bedroom and it is the perfect place for them to gather to play games or watch TV The master bedroom overlooks the lake. The master bath has a walk-in shower and a large soaking tub. All bathrooms have granite counters and travertine tile. Although power boats and water skiing are allowed, kayaks and fishermen predominate. Wide stairs from the lower lake-side deck provide easy access to the lake where there is a generally sandy bottom. Multiple kayaks (both adult and youth) and a canoe are available to explore Lake Rescue. PLEASE NOTE: This house is NOT a good house for those with trouble going up and down stairs, simply because of how it sits on the lake - i.e. you pull in the driveway to the house, but the house is not visible because the top of the house sits BELOW the level of the driveway, and you get to the house by walking down the stairs from the driveway. It isn't super far at all, but definitely not ideal for anyone with difficulty walking, etc.

Welcome! Our house is a Classic Vermont Farmhouse with an attached carriage barn located on Lake Rescue in Ludlow, Vermont. Our home is characterized by the original features like exposed timber beams, hardwood flooring, soap stone counter tops, and vintage/ antique farmhouse decor. This home accommodates 11 and has 4 bedrooms, a living area with a futon pull-out couch and 2.5 baths. Home is located on Route 100 just outside of the town of Ludlow within a 5 min drive to Jackson Gore / Okemo Mtn and a 20 min drive to Killington ski areas. The views of the mountains are spectacular and the location is wonderful all year round. We have a large country yard and just steps off the back of the yard is Lake Rescue. Our property shares a common two level deck/dock/ and boat storage area with neighboring houses in a separate lot just a short walk off the back of the yard. Main Floor Layout: The main floor has a “Family Room” with cathedral ceiling, exposed beams, a wood stove, and large windows. It includes the kitchen which has original soap stone counter tops, hardwood cabinets, a center island with a large gas stove. The dining area has a large french country table which can accommodate ten. Next to the table is an unusual wood stove that opens to become a fireplace creating a cozy atmosphere and crackling fire. There is also a seating area with a couch and chair to allow for snuggling into a great book or breaking in a deck of cards with family and friends. This openness of this room makes it possible for everyone to be included in family or group discussion or activities. The main floor also has a TV room with a futon couch, chair, bookshelves, wood stove, and TV (Cable included). A half bath is located off the TV room with a full size washer and dryer.(linens and towels provided) The master bedroom is also located on the main floor it has a Queen size four poster bed, an armoire, vintage decor, and a full bath with jetted tub. The “Family Room” has a door that opens onto a large deck, where you will find a grill and outside dinner table and umbrella. There is a large counry yard with multiple seating areas and a tire swing. On the upper level there are country 3 bedrooms and a full bath. Bedrooms= One King, One Double, One with A Double and Twin. The upstairs bath has the original claw foot tub with country classic surround shower, and a bidet. The nearby village of Ludlow, Vermont contains many fine restaurants, while nearby Chester is known for its fine antique stores. Weston, only a 15-minute drive away, is home to the famous Vermont Country Store and the Weston Playhouse In summer, the fishing, swimming, and boating are excellent and it is a perfect place to spend a family vacation. Just steps off the backyard is a multi tier deck/dock area with picnic table and boat storage. The lake has a gradual sandy bottom and is perfect for young kids playing in the water. The dock is a perfect place to tie up your boat, jump into the water, kayak or fish. We have two Kayaks, and a paddle boat for guest use for fabulous scenic trips on the lake. In the fall, the foliage is spectacular and autumn is the perfect time to enjoy the foliage while boating on Lake Rescue or driving around the valley. In winter, the house is also ideal for outdoor activities. The house is about 1 mile from Jackson Gore/Okemo. Lake Rescue is approximately one and one-half miles long and offers numerous activities in addition to nearby downhill skiing. Stairs off one side lead to a side yard with a shed that holds the yard and water toys, extra chairs, etc. The large fire pit is also on that side, with views of the lake. Stairs off the other side lead to the larger yard where you'll find the horseshoe pits, volley ball net and a wide path gently sloping down to the waterfront. There's a brand new dock and two kayaks - one double and one single - as well as a canoe. Paddles and life preservers are in the shed. Lake Pauline is peaceful and quiet, but Lake Rescue is directly behind us and allows power boats. The boat ramp is 1/2 mile down the road. The best of both worlds!! In the winter, ice skate, snowmobile (VAST trails) or snowshoe right from the front door. Okemo is 5 minutes (Jackson Gore is even less!), Killington is 25 minutes and Pico is about 30 minutes away. In the evening, gather for a meal, games or a movie. A large, see through fireplace adds warmth and charm to both living room and kitchen/dining room! In the fall, grab a blanket and a cup of coffee and head out to the Adirondack chairs to watch the mist rise off the lake and listen to the geese fly overhead. The main floor has a bedroom with double bed and a bedroom with a twin. The bathroom on this floor is very large and has a bath tub (there are also safety rails in this bathroom by tub and toilet, if you have guests who need some extra support). Upstairs is the master bedroom suite with king bed and small full bath. A second bedroom has a queen bed and two twins. Both bedrooms have skylights and French balconies. The lower level suite has an additional living area and full bath. There is a couch, TV and stereo and a second room with a daybed with trundle and large game table. (Note: Since this area does not have proper egress, it cannot be used as a bedroom.) Buttermilk Falls is a popular swimming and picnic spot throughout the summer and fall. Deep, cool pools are at the base of each of 3 sets of falls, cascading down through the woods. They are only 2 miles away and can be reached by car or bike. It’s quick and simple to launch from the home one of our many kayaks (adult, tandem and youth) as well as youth paddle board made available for your enjoyment. The water is shallow and safe for children to wade. The lake is also stocked with an abundance of fish, including perch, bass, and trout, so bring along your fishing rod. Surrounding Area The nearby town of Ludlow contains many fine restaurants and shops, while nearby Chester is known for its fine antique stores. The main level also has a bedroom with a queen size bed as well as a full bath. There is a stackable washer & dryer too. The deck lines the entire back of the house and is surrounded by beautiful trees. The front porch has rocking chairs to enjoy the evening sunset. The interior of the home was completely renovated in 2018 and we tried to honor the unique layout and character of our 100+ year old cottage, while upgrading every room with modern amenities. The kitchen boasts a full granite peninsula with custom cabinets, bar stools and entertainment spaces to enjoy dinner, drinks and music with friends and family. The home has Free WiFi and has spacious rooms on three levels. Within the upper half of the house, the three bedrooms sleep 8 and the living room features a pull out sofa. The lower half of the house features a fourth bedroom, a third bathroom and a family room with a pull out sofa, that increases the sleeping capacity to a total of 14 comfortably, perfect for up to three families.
